Uncle's Songs

This is an archive of some songs my uncle wrote for guitar before he passed in 1983

Are Reasons Worth the Time

Pretty girl in your dreams, are worlds you’d like to see,

And is their someone in those dreams, could that someone be me you see?

Pretty girl in your heart, are words you’d like to hear,

Sometimes feelings are hard to find, why to me it seems so clear.

How could anyone be as near.

Chorus: Wish I could find the reason,

Wish I could be closer to you.

All dreams must have a reason.

Seems the answers from me are small and few…

Seems the answers from me,

And your dreams that I see,

Make me realize I’m not sure.

And maybe it’s true,

Now just looking at you,

Maybe you know more.

Pretty girl can I stay, and watch the years go by?

We’ll have problems along the way, But like the storms that make you cry, they’ll die.

Pretty girl should I go and try to find my dreams,

All the colors and feeling I have I’ve learned from you it seems,

But now I know which way to go

Chorus: x 2

Pretty have I changed, to what I now should be,

And have I wasted my time ‘till now, on what I thought would be for me?

Maybe now I can rearrange what I found

So hard to see,

That my life belongs to me.

Chorus: Alt-ending - Wish I could find the reason,

Wish I could be closer to you.

All dreams must have a reason.

Seems the answers from me are small and few…

Seems the answers from me,

And your dreams that I see,

Make me realize I’m not sure.

Before I go, I’d like to know,

Were the reasons worth looking for,

Are reasons worth the time anymore?

For A Time

Ah my love, today your mine, but time will take you away.

Ah my love, today I kissed you, but time will wipe it away.

You will be my evening song, that plays its melody.

Through the years, I’ll learn the tune, and try to stay in key

Do-do –do (10 total)

Ah my love when you speak to me,

Do I hear the words you say.

I believe in just a part of me,

In your words it seems that way.

You will be my evening song, that plays its melody.

Through the years, I’ll learn the tune, and try to stay in key

Do-do –do (10 total)

Chorus: Shall I follow you into the darkness of the night,

And when the dawn brings light,

Will I know that it was right,

Or will I find myself all alone to start again,

To believe all those lies.

So I want you to hold me,

Time will soon be gone,

And will you be gone when time’s away,

And will you be gone when time’s away.

Ah my love, my world will shine, until you take it away.

Give me time to learn, the words “there’s no tomorrow, just today.”

You will be my evening song, that plays its melody.

Through the years, I’ll learn the tune, and try to stay in key

Do-do –do (10 total)

Will I learn to know myself, within the time you say,

Simple words seem to mean the most, and such are the words I say.

You will be my evening song, that plays its melody.

Through the years, I’ll learn the tune, and try to stay in key

Do-do –do (10 total)

Chorus:

Do-do –do (10 total)

And I find I love you more than today.

And my world will find the reason to believe,

And I’ll know my way,

And I’ll learn to walk through every single day,

And when the time comes, I’ll fade away.

Will I find what time provides?

And will I learn of me?

Simple words are all I have,

So will you stay with me?

You will be my evening song, that plays its melody.

Through the years, I’ll learn the tune, and try to stay in key

Do-do –do (10 total)

Friends from Yesterday

Summer dreams that fade into winter quilted writings that die.

Picture books that hold the looks of years gone by.

Several notes we wrote through that summer, yellow now, for time has winked its eye.

Flowers from a July sun you gave to me and made me cry.

Holding hands was once all I needed.

Summer rains or star lit lullabies,

A whispered breeze beneath the trees,

We held each other as willows sighed.

Chorus: May I have a dream that won’t fade away,

All the dreams that I once held belong to yesterday,

Or am I too old or far behind, it hurts to hear you say,

I love you my friends form yesterday.

I love you my friends form yesterday.

Laughing eyes that once shown like sunshine fading now to see a cloudy sky.

Sorrows said, for passing dead, but for me why?

I once had the dreams you hold, and once I saw the way,

I once loved on summer nights, and cried when light brought day,

And I still can love and feel the way, the younger people say,

I love you my friends form today.

I love you my friends form today.

Chorus:

A failing heart that looks to the younger, and ones alone, for what was yesterday,

hands that hold astray, told as the last page folds,

peaces found and held for a lifetime closer than any words can say,

soften cries of sad goodbyes; are often heard for those days.

Chorus: with both ends - I love you my friends form yesterday.

I love you my friends form today.

I never seem to know

While wine that’s kissed by time reminds me of you,

Silver tears softly adhere to dreams they once knew,

But I’ve been told that after the cup hold what it will

If set aside, to heal it’s pride, it somewhat will refill.

Chorus: Maybe I will find a way, I never seem to know,

My softer dreams, that heal torn seams, Will never let me show.

Cause after the waiting, That went on and on

I found I loved you, But you had gone

Why do I love you, And why do I say,

That the tears of the white wine, Can refill yesterday,

Oh, why do I love you, And why do I say,

That the tears of the white wine, Can refill yesterday,

Time will always turn over minds, To show what’s behind sometimes,

When we look to see, we lose what we find,

But how could time be empty, if time was spent with you?

You can show, what you do not know, so what am I to do?

Chorus:

Refrain: But how could time be empty, if time was spent with you?

You can show, what you do not know, so what am I to do?

Chorus beginning: Maybe I will find a way, I never seem to know,

My softer dreams, that heal torn seams, Will never let me show.

Seems that I can understand,

What I want I’ll never find.

Seems so hard, to enjoy,

A single glass of wine.

A single glass of wine.

Just my Silver and Me

I believe I know the ways about you,

silver strands; tell me why.

And I know I’ll hurt, through days without you,

when the time passes by.

Chorus: So I follow the sun,

I won’t fly with no one,

So close to make me cry

And I’ve learn to be one,

And I find that the sun,

Sometimes leaves me dry.

And I want to be me,

But I just cannot see,

So we fly, just my silver and me,

And that’s the only time I feel free.

I’ll believe in life when I start living,

And not in things that are not me,

You and I are still two, even though we’re sharing the way it’s been with me.

Maybe time that touches me,

Will show me who to be, and maybe then I’ll know my way,

But ‘till then I’ll to take it day by day

Chorus:

When the time arrives for you to move on,

Don’t look back and think of me.

For my words and my songs are for life and the living,

Don’t hold back from being free.

For there’s always time for change, and for learning,

Someone’s offering, you’ll see.

Chorus:

Night Time

And you said you loved me, and I believed I heard those words from you.

And you said you’d stay by me, and I believed you’d stay around,

And like the robber the winter brings, or trees of fall are crowned,

I lost my sunshine lady that I believed I’d found.

And as you slept within my arms, I believed your life was meant for two,

And we touched and felt each other’s dreams,

And I felt that you would stay with me,

But like my footprints left in the sand, they never follow me.

When I leave from where I’ve been, there are no traces,

There are no traces and I find that hard to believe.

Chorus: Night wine give me time,

To find you and I’ll do what you say,

I feel fine within the time,

That time will let you stay

And I will let my vision flow, and I’ll be free.

La-la-la-la (16 total)

And I saw our time grow old, long before I fell, that it was through.

And you found that we were not the same,

And I was told there’s someone new.

And so I ended with simple words, as those that gave me you,

And so I turned and you were gone, but those simple words I knew,

You had written, so I would read, that you had loved me too.

Chorus:

Did I learn what I know now, or have I held what hurts away from me.

Did you try to make me understand, and did I refuse to let me see?

Well all the reasons are useless now, and I have learned to see,

I can never hold my dreams ‘till I believe in me.

Unfinished Verses

No title:

As a young man’s heart, is indeed as soft as the cheek, that hold’s his lady’s smile.

And if it’s magic that warms his heart, and writes the songs he’ll sing, then a rose will grow, and

she will know; if it be just a while.

No title:

When your sunshine river starts to run dry,

Your reflection won’t reflect the reason why,

But I know that you would like to fly,

And it hurts for me to say good bye.

Years will change your eyes,

You’ll see you’ll look back and see,

Today so differently

Please remember that person I call me

Refrain: But I know that you would like to fly,

And it hurts for me to say good bye.

No title:

Find me a place where I can stay today,

Show me a place where I can grow tomorrow
