The formal explanation begins with a well known version of the Riemann hypothesis based on the closely related Dirichlet Eta function. In that version, the Dirichlet Eta sum η(s) is stated in a functional equation with the Riemann Zeta function ζ(s). This is done in order to analytically continue the domain of the Zeta function, and it is shown as equation 1.
